This is one of my favorites of Aidan, that you've done. And I can't quite place why. I think it may be the overall appearance of this picture is so well done, so soft and natural that it really feels like a piece of art from the 18th or 19th century. I can picture this as a portrait or small icon found in someone's locket or on their desk.

I know I've said that before but you really manage to capture the spirit of the character he plays in how you present this picture.

On top of that, though, I'm just amazed at the amount of detail in this work. As always, there's a great attention and care taken to rendering his features. I love that I can see the different tufts of hair, I can clearly see the definition of his chin, the individual patches of stubble on his cheeks, and the delicate way his brows arch and how they do that. I love that you've clearly captured the scar and made it fit seamlessly with his natural features.

But there's also a lot of fine stitching, buttons, overlapping fabric, all of it so wonderfully rendered, which really lends to the realism of the piece. And whats more, all the detail has contrasting elements: light and dark, ornamented (detailed) and more simplistic. It binds this whole picture together so well. I really appreciate that.
